Plastic Surgery Trends in the US

Plastic surgery procedures hit an all-time high in 2016, with these procedures becoming more popular than ever. Looking into the plastic surgery trends makes it clearer just which areas of the body Americans think are the most important. Much as people may hate to admit it, improving your looks could improve everything from dating prospects to job prospects, so many people are willing to go under the knife to accomplish their goals.

Minimally Invasive Procedures

It isn’t just major plastic surgery procedures that are popular, a lot of minimally invasive procedures are common these days. Among the most popular are wrinkle treatment injections, hyaluronic acid fillers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser treatments. Most of these focus on the appearance of the face and are meant to help people look younger, although some of the laser procedures were for laser hair removal, which can take place anywhere on the body.

These types of procedures are popular because they are relatively low cost and low risk but can make a real, if only temporary, difference in how a person looks.

Cosmetic Surgery Procedures

It may be surprising to note that one of the most well-known cosmetic surgery procedures is no longer among the top five. Facelifts now fall below breast augmentation, liposuction, nose reshaping, tummy tucks, and buttock augmentation in the list of the most popular types of plastic surgery. Eyelid surgery is also among the most popular types.

One new trend is for people to have unwanted fat removed from one part of their body, such as the abdomen, and then injected into another part of the body, such as the breast or buttocks. These results may be more likely to last longer than having some other type of filler injected since the fat came from the body.

Strange But True

One procedure that had an increase of about 39 percent in 2016 was the labiaplasty. More than 12,000 women had this type of surgery, proving that some women really are concerned about every body part.
