Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) In New Mexico

People can learn so much about you through your eyes — whether you are happy or sad, excited or bored, angry or pleased. But as we age, drooping skin around our eyes can start to tell a false story, indicating to the world that you are perpetually tired, angry, or unhappy. Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a plastic surgery procedure that is designed to eliminate drooping skin in the eye area and create a more youthful and vibrant appearance. Although blepharoplasty is, relatively speaking, not an extensive cosmetic surgery procedure, the results can be quite dramatic. This treatment makes patients appear significantly younger and happier than they looked prior to surgery.

The Procedure

During eyelid surgery, Dr. Gallegos makes incisions in the creases of the eyes. Depending on the patient’s needs, he may make these incisions in the upper eye area, the lower eye area, or both. Excess skin both above and below the eyes can be removed. Through the incisions, Dr. Gallegos removes the tiny amounts of excess fat and skin that contribute to the formation of sagging eyelids, bags under the eyes, or other problems. The incisions are then closed and the patient may return home to recuperate. People interested in eyelid surgery may visit Dr. Gallegos at his practice serving Santa Fe for a consultation.
